With the UK under lockdown, over 400,000 children in London are isolated, at risk of hunger and scared about what the future holds.

Fashion For Relief are asking for your help to support the Mayor’s Fund for London emergency fundraising appeal to help young people in London who are particularly vulnerable during this crisis.

Covid-19 has increased the number of children and young people in London at risk of ‘food insecurity’ – this means that they cannot guarantee sufficient quality or quantity of food. Some will be hungry. Our immediate priority is to assist the Mayor’s Fund For London to raise vital funds for their Kitchen Social programme, which is currently supporting local community organisations all over London to provide packed lunches, hot food for collection & food hampers for vulnerable families.

We urgently need your help as supplies and capacity are running out. Please consider making a donation TODAY to support the ongoing work among the young people and communities that need us most.

Every £33 raised will feed 10 children for one day.  A donation of £100 will feed 30 for one day. No donation is too large or too small.

You can also help us to raise awareness by using #KitchenSocial and #Fashion4Relief across social media.

Thank you so much in advance for your support.

ABOUT KITCHEN SOCIAL:

Kitchen Social, a Mayor’s Fund for London programme, is the largest provider of food for children in London during the school holidays.

Now that schools have closed and children are at home, Kitchen Social has stepped up to coordinate relief efforts with its own network of community organisations and other food charities to ensure food and supplies get to the children and families who need it most during the pandemic.

These organisations are working around the clock to provide packed lunches, hot food for collection and deliver food ‘happiness hampers’ to struggling families. Food insecurity affects educational attainment and children’s wellbeing, including their physical health.

The Mayor’s Fund for London is aiming to provide healthy food for London’s children via its Kitchen Social programme for however long the crisis lasts.

At the moment, there are Kitchen Social community groups operating across London. However, the more money we raise the more groups we can fund.

We also know that need will not disappear when schools reopen their doors. The impact of job losses will be felt after the lockdown is over. We are therefore planning to operate at scale to at least the end of the summer and beyond.

We appreciate every donation. Every gift helps to improve the lives of those living in adversity, by supporting our amazing partner organisations.

Thank you for showing your support.
